As you scroll through our blog page on A4H’s site, you can see the multitude of names attached to the different posts there. If you’re familiar with us, you know that we’re a team of virtual assistants who help out our clients with a myriad of tasks (and I, as you might guess, tend to handle writing for our clients - contact us if you like what I do!)
Since we are all virtual, none of us had truly met in person...until last week! As I sat amongst (most of) my team, I was overwhelmed by the camaraderie we had. It made me reflect on all the ways my team empowers me to do my best work.
Despite what you might think, writing is not a solo sport. It truly takes a village, in more ways than you might think. Here are some ways you can utilize your tribe on your journey to content creation.
Get Inspired!
Whether it's brainstorming ideas together or just drawing inspiration from a friend’s story, there are so many ways your squad can help you even at the jump of a writing prompt.
When I get in a slump, I love to crowdsource ideas from my team. We always have a good time tossing ideas out and brainstorming together. We always come up with someone useful and fun, and sometimes it helps generate ideas for weeks to come!
Editing and Accompanying Graphics
Well, of course. My blogs would be nothing without the hard work of my fellow assistants Myra, who always keeps my grammar in check, and Tatum, who crafts such masterful graphics that it almost overshadows my words! Their support elevates my work to a level I couldn’t achieve alone.
Despite what you might think, your work doesn’t end when you finish typing. A writer is only as good as their editor; the editing and revising process is crucial to finetuning your first draft and making it complete. Once you have a good session with your team on that, you can focus on the elements that will make your work pop (AKA a kickass graphic!)
Keep You On Track
Have you ever lost track of time? Well, who hasn’t, right?
With a good support system in place, they will help empower you to meet your deadlines - and you’ll want to because you don’t want to leave anyone hanging! I don’t know about you, but I appreciate having the accountability to my team to stay on schedule for them.
Get Pumped Up
Feeling a bit self-conscious about your latest attempt at writing? Turn to your gang to get some feedback.
My team never fails to hype me up and make me feel confident about the work I’ve put out there. And it works because I know that, if I fell short, they would kindly help me make sure I did better next time. It makes their support even more meaningful that I know it’s all legit.
Don’t be afraid to ask for feedback from the people you trust, because it will only make you better in the long run.
Return the Favor
With how great my team is, it’s so awesome when I get to return the favor every once in a while and gas up my friend or offer some editing or formatting advice. It’s a give and a take to be on an awesome team like this - it works because we all love what we do and we love to lend a hand!
You couldn’t find a better support team than the A4H squad - although, of course, we encourage you to try! :)
